Friday Favorites, September
FAVORITE THINGS FRIDAY!!!!
This is my very first Friday-Favorites! I am planning on this being a monthly feature post where I can share some of the things that I am obsessing over currently!
Some are oldies, some are brand new things I’ve recently discovered and/or recently come to love!
p.s. How cute is my momma up there in her O&O?? Love you! (:
OLIVER & OTIS
“Hi, I’m Alix. And I’m addicted to tees.”
People, an amazing t-shirt is the base of just about every single outfit I wear. I’m just a sucker for something comfy and stinking cute! (Who isn’t!?) I found Oliver & Otis on Instagram when we were about to move to our very first travel therapy assignment in Midland, TX. I bought my very first O&O shirt shortly after we moved there, then got to meet some of the amazing TX girls behind the brand at the 2015 People Party Productions Spring Craft Market. Needless to say, I’ve been hooked ever since. I’m almost ashamed of how many tee’s I have come to acquire since then, but not really (; One of the things I love about Oliver and Otis is that they are constantly coming out with new stuff, and there just seems to be something for everyone. Literally, my husband, brother, and mom all have different O&O shirts now. I tell people constantly “Oliver & Otis has a shirt for that!” HAHA! These girls are always coming out with designs that are “groovy” (as my husband described them!) O&O girls, you are amazing! Check out my collection below!
*This actually is minus a few of my shirts!! I forgot about two that I had when I took these pics, and then my hubby got a new one for me a few weeks ago for my bday! (see the very top photo for the "Make America Grape Again" tee) #addicted
Let’s talk shoes. During my teenage years, I wore chuck-taylors just about everyday (if I wasn’t in flip flops) Then in 2009 (I only know this because of where I lived, I don’t have THAT good of a memory HA!) I saw TOMS on a commercial (Sprint, I believe) and knew I needed a pair. I have been HOOKED ever since!! I LOVE the TOMS business model, their mission, and seriously, could Blake McCoskie be any cooler!? (PS, just want to throw this out there, I feel like him, his wife, and I would all be besties if we met. Just saying.) Mushu and a pair of my TOMS were featured on their Instagram page a few years ago (AH!) and I even wore TOMS at my wedding! My love form TOMS may run a little deep (: I’m sure you’ve at least heard of Toms, but in case you haven’t, these shoes are amazingly comfortable, stylish, AND give back. TOMS is known for making the one-for-one business model a huge deal. With every pair of TOMS shoes you purchase, they give a pair to someone, somewhere out there in the world, who needs a pair of shoes. According to their site, since beginning in 2006, they have given out over 60 MILLION pairs of shoes to children in need!! Since then, they've also expanded their giving to proper eye care (through their sunglass collection), clean water (through TOMS coffee sales), and even providing safe births for mothers and their children (through the TOMS bag collection.) Seriously a beautiful company doing beautiful things in this crazy world. We checked out the TOMS coffee shop in Austin TX last year around Christmas time, and it was so amazing! I just love seeing people support such a truly inspiring company! If you haven't yet, check out their site, I guarantee they have a product for you, that in turn will do good somewhere else in the world!
Check out my ever-growing collection of TOMS shoes!

S'WELL BOTTLES
Joel and I do a lot of walking, hiking, and other kinds of outdoor adventures. We don’t take our cooler everywhere with us, but sometimes a cooler is just not practical! (And I always forget to buy ice...) A few months ago we bought our first S’Well bottle (the lady at the shop told us the size we were looking at holds a whole bottle of wine, SOLD!) and we love it so much! A week later we ordered one for me too! Joel takes his to work with him, and it keeps the water cold all day even if he leaves it in the car! It keeps him from having to stop at a gas station a few times a day to buy a new water bottle. He also fills it back up when he gets home and sips on it all night. S’Well advertises that the bottle will keep beverages cold for up to 24 hours, and hot for 12. S’Well also gives back! I found this about their amazing company on their website “S'well®, is a proud supporter of the U.S. Fund for UNICEF, donating $200,000 since 2015 to help provide clean water to the world’s most vulnerable children. UNICEF works in more than 100 countries around the world to improve access to safe water and sanitation facilities in schools and communities and to promote safe hygiene practices. For example, with just $1, UNICEF can provide one child with access to safe, clean water for a month. To learn more visit www.unicefusa.org.”
Make sure you check them out and order yourself one (or two!) (PS shipping was SUPER fast! Which I LOVE!)
